The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is accepting input through Tuesday, Sept. 30, for several experimental and special fishing regulations for the 2026 fishing season.
Proposed regulations include sunfish limits on Rabideau Lake near Blackduck and Platte Lake near Hillman and walleye rules on Sand Lake and connected waters near Deer River and Rainy Lake on the Canadian border.
The Sand, Platte and Rainy lake proposals are up for required review. Experimental regulations have a set evaluation period, and special regulations are reviewed as part of each lake's management planning cycle.
The Rabideau Lake five-sunfish daily limit is being proposed to help maintain the quality and spread of fishing "over a wider range of angling pressure," the DNR said.
Find more information on the proposed regulations and take the DNR's survey on the agency's website.
