The city is exploring its options after a fire destroyed the park's bandshell.

Two Harbors elected a new city councilor, voters approved ballot measures in the Fisher and Nett Lake school districts and International Falls residents shot down a bonding measure.

The Tuesday, Aug. 12, election is the citizens’ latest attempt to have more say in the city’s budget.

KOOTASCA Community Action said proposed cuts at the federal level would hurt its ability to support local families with housing and energy assistance, among other needs.

The region will be well represented in the Class A meet, with 69 entries; Northern Minnesota has five entries in the 2A meet.

Jesse Gates of Voyageurs Conservancy shared how the park's nonprofit partner is celebrating on April 8, on the actual anniversary and throughout the summer.

The state boys Swim and Dive meet will have 50 Northland entries made up of 51 student-athletes from eight area schools.

International Falls, Eveleth and Gilbert saw mostly successful write-in campaigns, while Kettle River, Federal Dam and Wrenshall races were decided by luck of the draw.

Dale Johnson, Bruce Raboin, Karen Salo, Roxanne Skogstad-Ditsch and JoAnn Smith are running for I.S.D. 361, International Falls, School Board.

Sharon Ball, Wayne Hiebert, Pete Kalar and Andrew Donald "Jesus Dubs" Piekarski are running for International Falls mayor.
