History of Jazz with Paul Kivi
Saturday 12-1pm | Sunday 4-5pm

The History of Jazz traces this distinctly American music form from the 19th Century through modern times beginning with influences of jazz, including all the greatest works by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Jelly Roll Morton, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus and hundreds of other jazz giants.

Jazz is a big tent and you will hear some of the catchiest music ever made and innovative solos that make you bob your head and stand the test of time. You get a snapshot of the very best in jazz in every episode.

Hosted by volunteer, Paul Kivi, an associate professor of Economics and Environmental Studies at Bemidji State University, and also the stadium announcer for Bemidji high school soccer games. He would sit and spin his grandma's records for hours as a 2-year old. His passion for music of all kinds, but especially the older stuff, has never left. A goal in his free time is to collect all of the greatest music ever recorded.

These shows of vintage music for KAXE/KBXE are truly a labor of love.
