Callout: Help Us Tell Northern Minnesota's Stories
Here at KAXE, we know our audience members are not only extremely knowledgeable but also engaged in their communities.
That's why we need your help to tell Northern Minnesota's stories. We intend to regularly tap you to create stories, maps and other resources to serve the public interest of the communities we care about.
This page, launched July 2024, will serve as home base for our Callouts — when we ask you to submit information you have that can help us share a more complete picture. You'll find our current form seeking your input and any content we've created along the way with your help.
Don't have anything to contribute this time around? That's just fine, but we sure hope the next Callout will be in your wheelhouse instead! In the meantime, we'd love it if you shared this with your friends and neighbors.
Or if you have a news tip that just doesn't fit our project of the moment, don't hesitate to reach out at news@kaxe.org. We can't do this without you!
Open To All: Help KAXE create a Public Beach Guide
WHO: The KAXE News team
WHAT: Mapping Northern Minnesota's public beaches
WHEN: Submissions close July 28, 2024. The finished project will be shared later this summer.
WHERE: Publicly accessible beaches in any of these counties: Aitkin, Becker, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Clearwater, Cook, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, Roseau, St. Louis or Wadena.
WHY: It can be difficult to find information about public beaches near you online. We want to help Northern Minnesotans get outside and enjoy as many of the 11,842 lakes that make our state great as possible.
HOW: With your help! Do you have a favorite beach or are you knowledgeable about your local amenities? Share what you know! We'll use your responses to make a list and map that you can use every summer.
Please submit one response per beach. If you have difficulty submitting the form or have additional questions, you can send the information to news@kaxe.org.
A note about your information: We won't use your email, phone number or any other information without your permission, which we'll ask for in a couple spots throughout the linked form.
