BEMIDJI — The Beltrami County Historical Society will highlight women in local government in a Saturday, Sept. 6, panel.
The event was initially scheduled for June 21, but it was postponed due to storm impacts.
“Women Elected to Lead: Voices from Local Government” will explore the challenges, responsibilities and rewards of local leadership and the importance of civic participation and representation.
The panel is at 10 a.m. at the Beltrami County History Center in Bemidji. It is free and open to the public.
Local historian Lois Jenkins will moderate the discussion and offer historical context about women who have served in elected office throughout the region.
