The U.S. Forest Service announced the emergency forest order within the Superior National Forest in a news release Thursday night. The order prohibits visitor entry at specific campsites, portages and lakes, and pristine management areas near the site of the fire.

Calm conditions prevent growth of 1st Boundary Waters wildfire of year
An aircraft flight was taken over the fire for a size up of the fire’s activity and location. Active and moderate fire activity was witnessed in a mixed boreal forest with aspen, pine and balsam fir tree species.

The new facility includes a 2 megawatt solar array paired with a 1 megawatt, 2.5-hour lithium ion battery surrounded by pollinator-friendly vegetation.
Northern Minn. counties benefit from legislative revenue boost, leaders say
The new funding is designed for counties with large public land holdings and is known as Payment in Lieu of Taxes, or PILT. It is intended to compensate counties for the loss of property taxes on the state’s vast acreage of public land in Northern Minnesota.

Great River Rescue to host Furr Bowl on April 23
The Furr Bowl is one of the organization’s most popular events, Great River Rescue reported. Registration is $35 per person with up to six people per team. Registrants receive two hours of bowling, pizza, pop and prizes at the event.
Bemidji Symphony Orchestra to present ‘Revel in Ravel’ April 23
The “Revel in Ravel” performance includes Ravel's Piano Concerto in G, featuring pianist Dianna Anderson. Bemidji violinists Eric Olson and Timothy Pinkerton will perform a movement from Pablo de Sarasate Navarra for Two Violins and Orchestra, Op. 33.
