Teachers are a big part of our lives, from our preschool years to college classrooms and beyond. During this National Teacher Appreciation week, we wanted to hear about your favorite teachers!
Here's what we heard
Mary from Cass Lake remembered a teacher who believed in her. "My favorite teacher is Sarah Larson, my adult ed teacher. I got my GED in 2009, and she knew I could pass when I didn't (think I could)," she texted.
KAXE volunteer Heather Kidd said, "I'm no doubt just one among many who grew up in the Brainerd area who loved Lauren Nickesch's music classes and remember them with joy and affection. She continues to be a generator of art in the area and planted the seed of love of music in so many."
A few people from Grand Rapids remembered Fran Strommer as their favorite elementary school teacher. Katie wrote on Facebook that Mrs. Strommer, along with her speech and drama teacher Merle Bauder, influenced her decision to become a teacher herself.
We heard about history teachers, piano teachers, English teachers, and many more.
Sometimes, our favorite teachers aren't involved in formal education at all. Ian from Minneapolis said, "My favorite teacher is a retired postman, turned phenologist from up north!" We're pretty sure he's referring to our very own John Latimer!
You can listen above to a conversation from the KAXE Morning Show on Wednesday about favorite teachers.
