Student-athletes from 10 rural Northern Minnesota schools will compete at the state swimming and diving meet Feb. 26-28, 2026, in Minneapolis.

Warroad, Proctor-Hermantown and Bemidji represented the rural Northland in the girls hockey state tourney. Bemidji was the consolation runners-up.

Over 100 student-athletes from rural Northern Minnesota will wrestle at the 2026 state tournament in St. Paul, with a strong representation from the north-central region.

Bemidji is making its first state tourney appearance since 2007, while Warroad and Proctor-Hermantown hold the first- and second-longest appearance streaks.

The Ely boys and Cook County girls will also compete Feb. 11-12, 2026, at Giants Ridge, along with individual qualifiers from Bemidji, Ely, Proctor-Hermantown, Grand Rapids, Two Harbors and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton.

Student-athletes competing for Cook County, Brainerd, Proctor-Hermantown, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton and Detroit Lakes will race in the state alpine meet in Biwabik on Feb. 10, 2026.

The region will be well represented in the Class A meet, with 69 entries; Northern Minnesota has five entries in the 2A meet.

Warroad is the 2025 Class A runner-up. Proctor/Hermantown won the consolation championship.

Proctor/Hermantown lost its first match Wednesday night, leaving the Warriors as the last team from the Northland vying for the Class A title.

The two teams are on opposite sides of the Class 1A bracket. They're the only rural Northern Minnesota teams in the tournament.
