The Minnesota State High School League’s festival features nearly 200 artworks from students across the state in a wide variety of media.

This year, Northern Minnesota has at least one entry in each of the 12 categories.

Work is first judged at the section level. There, judges award Spotlight on the Arts honors to a select few. Then those entries are showcased at the state festival.

North Woods advanced four students: Isabel Pascuzzi in mixed media, Evalyn Thiel in ceramics, River Deatherage in painting and Victoria Phillips in printmaking.

Blackduck’s Willo Nelson is one of a small group of students with three works of art in the festival, with submissions in the ceramics, painting and sculpture categories.

Gallery viewing is open for two hours Saturday, starting at 11:45 a.m.
