COLERAINE — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids and Greenway is contemplating the future of club programming and inviting the public to weigh in at a town hall discussion.
The meeting will be 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Nyberg Community Center in Coleraine.
This is the second gathering hosted by the organization that says it’s facing budget shortfalls, low staff numbers and space limitations for its after-school child care program.
The club says its considering transitioning to a fee-for-service model with more information to be shared Thursday.
Other important discussions include the lack of permanent space for the Greenway Club, the expansion of board representation, and parent involvement.
The Grand Rapids and Greenway clubs opened in 2017 and leaders say they quickly filled a critical need for Itasca County residents of Itasca County as the only non-athletic, non-religious afterschool care program for youths.
