DULUTH — Three listening sessions in northeastern Minnesota will gather input on the future direction for programming and investment at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
The 90-minute sessions are set for 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Tettegouche State Park in Silver Bay, 3:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia and 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the DECC Harbor Side Ballroom.
A news release from the DECC said after two years of consulting, it was evident that the organization "needed a clearer sense of its public purpose."
"Once this process is complete, the DECC will be able to better focus on serving the needs of the region and more clearly communicate its purpose to external audiences," the release stated."
According to its website, the DECC is a collection of 10 venues, including two arenas, two convention centers, a symphony hall, two expo halls and Bayfront Festival Park.
The DECC is home to the University of Minnesota Duluth's hockey teams, the Duluth Curling Club, the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and the Minnesota Ballet.
The facilitated sessions will gather viewpoints from the public, regional partners, stakeholders and elected leaders. All feedback will be presented to the DECC's board of directors to guide decisions on programming and capital investment priorities.
