Defending champions Pequot Lakes will be joined by Northeast Range/Ely, Bemidji, Brainerd, Cloquet, Thief River Falls and Warroad at the state robotics tournament in May 2026.

The qualifiers span 27 Northern Minnesota teams and all 13 categories. Over 30 are repeat qualifiers, including five medalists and one reigning champion.

The five Northland teams are all underdogs, set to face some of the top teams in the state in the 2025 state volleyball tournament.

Rain made for an interesting end to the baseball season for many Class A teams Thursday. Grand Rapids lost in the 3A consolation championship.

Grand Rapids makes its fifth-straight tourney appearance, while Frazee makes its first since 1999. Red Lake County and South Ridge will also compete.

The region will be well represented in the Class A meet, with 69 entries; Northern Minnesota has five entries in the 2A meet.

Known as Worlds, the robotics competition in Houston will have 600 teams, including those from Pequot Lakes, Northeast Range/Ely and Warroad.
