Events Up North June 23-28: Turtle Town Art Fair, invasive species workshop

Events this week include Karaoke for a Cause in Grand Rapids, Pride Month in the Park in Brainerd, Lake Bemidji State Park pint night and kids' fishing day in Marcell.

It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:

Monday, June 23

Tuesday, June 24

  • Bemidji Public Library book sale - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Evangelical Free Church in Bemidji
  • Ink and Ivory: Stories Told in Duet - 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook. Featuring refreshments and a silent auction, with live music at 6 p.m. Free will donations will support the Friends of the Cook Public Library.
  • Aquatic invasive species workshop, "What to Expect During an Inspection" - 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Brainerd Department of Natural Resources Office. Park in the employee lot and use the north door.

Wednesday, June 25

  • Bemidji Public Library book sale - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Evangelical Free Church in Bemidji
  • Itasca's Butterflies: Talk and Walk - 1 p.m. at Itasca State Park. Meet at the Forest Inn.
  • Community Pint Night to support Friends of Lake Bemidji State Park - 4 to 7 p.m. at Bemidji Brewing

Thursday, June 26

  • 33rd Annual Gallery Hop - 2 to 7 p.m. on Howard Street in downtown Hibbing. Over 40 artists will display their work at area businesses. Music from Crescendo Orchestra from 4 to 5 p.m.
  • Karaoke for a Cause - 7 to 11 p.m. at Zorbaz on the Lake in Grand Rapids. Includes a silent auction. Proceeds go towards Support within Reach Sexual Violence Resource Center.

Saturday, June 28

  • Kids' fishing day - 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Edge of the Wilderness Discovery Center in Marcell. Learn about boat and water safety, fish from the pier and take part in casting contests. Each child should bring a life jacket, if they have one; otherwise, a limited number will be available.
  • Turtle Town Art Fair - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville
  • Paws and Play with Wonder Trek Museum - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Babinski Foundation in Pequot Lakes
  • Pride Month in the Park - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gregory Park in Brainerd. Hosted by the Brainerd Baxter Youth Center. Includes yard games and ice cream.
  • Vets' Day Out - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grand Rapids VFW. Take part in a live and silent auction with live music and food. Proceeds support a veterans' trip to a Minnesota Twins game.
