Enjoy local art, music and activities this fall.
It’s our first full weekend in October and the weather is still nice, so now is the perfect time to go outside.
Here are some events I recommend in our area that you can check out this weekend.
Hackensack Fall Fest
First up, it’s the Hackensack Fall Fest going on all day Saturday, Oct. 7.
Hike up the tower at Deep Portage Learning Center at 10 a.m. and partake in special deals at local shops, drawings and a beer release at Rendezvous Brewing.
St. Francis Oktoberfest
In Brainerd, it’s the St. Francis Oktoberfest from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Francis of the Lakes School yard. The festival features bratwursts, beer, music by Nathan Griner, and games such as Hammerschlagen, giant Jenga and cornhole.
Freewill offerings will be accepted.
Cars & Caffeine
People love their cars, and this weekend there’s an event for car enthusiasts in the area. Cars and Caffeine is 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Bemidji Eagles Club.
Get a chance to see vintage and classic cars, trucks and bikes even if you don’t have one yourself.
Coffee and breakfast will be available.

Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents ‘Considering Matthew Shepard’
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra begins their new concert season “A Love Song No One Else Can Hear” 3 p.m. Sunday with “Considering Matthew Shepard.”
The concert will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s murder with the Grammy-nominated oratorio by Craig Hell Johnson.
The concert will also feature Dakota Pro Musica and Minot Chamber Chorale.
Fall is in the air
Whether you’re a car buff, music afficianado, or a giant Jenga fan, there’s no shortage of activities for you to enjoy.
