Events this week include a Mesabi Community Band concert in Eveleth, an arts fundraiser in Bemidji and a 'Nutcracker' story time in Grand Rapids.

The cities are among 10 in Northern Minnesota selected by the state for grants funding housing and public infrastructure. Others include Sebeka, Winger, Erskine and Hendrum.

Essentia Health said it will suspend services at its clinics in Deerwood, Emily and Hackensack if advanced practice providers strike Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Plus: Extreme heat and possible severe weather could be in store for much of the Northland over the weekend; Carlos Hernandez was narrowly elected Bois Forte chairman in a special election on June 17, 2025; the Minnesota DNR and Brainerd Lakes Area Master Naturalists will hold an AIS workshop; Eveleth received a $200K grant to upgrade a city playground; Beltrami County will begin work on a new shared-use trail near Bemidji High School; and MnDOT crews are making progress on planned construction near Hackensack and Wadena.

Events this week include a kids fishing tourney and Loop the Lake Festival in Bemidji, a Bells and More concert in Cohasset, Spring Bike Fling in Walker and Itasca Pride Fest in Grand Rapids.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking comments on how people use bicycles, e-bikes and electric scooters at events in Hackensack and Bemidji.

The project, beginning May 5, 2025, is expected to be completed in mid-October.

Events this week also include a Hwy 87 construction meeting in Hubbard, astronomy day and Ojibwe Star Wars in Hibbing, CHAIR's grand opening in Virginia and a craft event in Bigfork.

Minnesota’s Forest to Tap program is offering tree seedlings on Friday, April 25, 2025, at local breweries in Baxter, Aitkin, Grand Rapids, Walker, Crosby and Bemidji.

MnDOT staff will be available to share information about the construction beginning in May and answer questions.
