Artist reception for 'Spirits of the North' exhibit is Oct. 6 at MacRostie Art Center

The exhibit will be on display in Grand Rapids through Nov. 18.

GRAND RAPIDS — MacRostie Art Center will host a reception for the new exhibit “Spirits of the North” by artist Sam Zimmerman from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6.

Zimmerman is a direct descendant of the Grand Portage Band of Ojibwe and pairs his paintings of traditional clan animals with stories in both Ojibwemowin and English.

The reception will have food, wine and other beverages with an artist talk at 6 p.m.

The exhibit will be open through Nov. 18.
