The construction is part of the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s efforts to reconstruct and improve the highway in 2026 and 2027.

BRAINERD — After a long summer of construction, a main thoroughfare in Brainerd reopened along with two new roundabouts.

All lanes of Highway 210, or Washington Street, opened Monday, Oct. 26, between Pine Shores Road and South Sixth Street.

Drivers can also use the multi-lane roundabouts at County Highway 3 and Highway 25.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation stated in a news release that the temporary mini roundabouts on Oak Street will be removed by Thursday night.

MnDOT construction on the highway from Baxter Drive to Pine Shores Road started in May and is expected to end in November 2027.

The $46 million project includes improvements to curbs, gutters, raised medians, storm sewers, city utilities beneath the road and the Mississippi River bridge.

MnDOT reported people should expect off-road work along the highway throughout the year. Drivers should also watch for pedestrians and pay attention to flashing yellow signs.
