STAPLES — A driver crashed into the Lakewood Health System’s emergency room doors Thursday night, Feb. 26.
The Brainerd Dispatch reported the driver was a 19-year-old woman. The Staples Police Department responded to the crash and arrived to find the woman already receiving medical treatment from hospital staff. No one else was injured.
Because of structural damage to the entryway, the Staples Fire Department was paged to assist with the incident. The building was determined to be unstable and unsafe in the immediate area of the crash, and firefighters assisted with securing the structure.
Authorities reported alcohol is believed to have been a factor, and the incident is under investigation.
Police were also assisted by the Todd County Sheriff's Office.
