GUNFLINT — The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service is restricting public access to Superior National Forest’s Eagle Mountain trailhead, parking lot and trail beginning Monday, Jan. 19.
The order temporarily closes Eagle Mountain — located in the Gunflint Ranger District in Cook County — to protect the safety of forest service staff and sled dogs using the trails for material hauling.
Project work is planned Monday through Friday, with the area reopening to the public from noon on Friday through end of day Sunday.
Closure of the above area will take place 12:01 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, through 12:01 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23; and again 12:01 p.m. Jan. 26-12:01 p.m. Jan. 30, or until rescinded — whichever comes first.
