Man in custody after Tuesday shooting south of Eveleth

The Eveleth Police Department said it responded to a report of a shooting the afternoon of Dec. 2, 2025, in southern Fayal Township. The victim was taken to a Duluth hospital.

EVELETH — A 36-year-old man is in custody after a shooting Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Fayal Township.

Law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting around 3:45 p.m. on River Drive in Fayal Township, about 7 miles southeast of Eveleth, according to a news release from the Eveleth Police Department.

A man with a gunshot wound was at the scene and later transported to a hospital in Duluth.

A man was taken into custody and is currently being held at the St. Louis County Jail, pending second-degree assault and second-degree attempted non-premeditated murder charges.

The news release stated the investigation is ongoing, and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was processing the crime scene.
