CROSBY — Crosby-Ironton senior Tori Oerhlein ended her run in this year’s girls singles tennis state tournament in fourth place in Class A.
She entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and lost to No. 3 Nellie Larson of St. Paul Academy and Summit School in the third-place match.
Oehrlein placed the highest of 15 Northland athletes participating in the tournament, but there were also some consolation champs in the mix.
East Grand Forks senior Ruby Leach took the top prize in the consolation bracket in Class A singles, beating St. James' Elizabeth Shores.
Seniors Piper Greene and Braylee Wienen of Thief River Falls defeated seniors Kaylee Endres and Anna Fiemeyer of Wadena-Deer Creek to be crowned Class A doubles consolation champions.
Rock Ridge juniors Emmi Peterson and Nina Paulsen are the Class 2A doubles consolation runners-up, losing to Fergus Falls' Hattie Fullhart and Dillyn Lill.
