ST. PAUL — No. 3 Warroad beat No. 6 Marshall 4-0 in the first round of the Minnesota State High School League's girls hockey state tournament Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19, keeping the team's hopes of a four-peat alive.
If they succeed, Warroad would be the first girls hockey team to win four championships in a row.
The Warriors are the last rural Northern Minnesota team left in the championship bracket. No. 5 Proctor/Hermantown was shut out 0-2 by No. 4 Academy of Holy Angels on Wednesday night.
Warroad will play No. 2 Orono at 11 a.m. Friday at the Xcel Energy Center. The game will be streamed at prep45.com.
The Mirage move to the consolation bracket, where they'll face No. 8 River Lakes at 3 p.m. Thursday at TRIA Rink. The game will be streamed at NSPN.tv; a subscription is required.
