Tony Petrie for Hubbard County Sheriff
Hubbard County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Tony Petrie announced his intention to run for sheriff in 2026.

The race for Hubbard County sheriff did not have an incumbent. Current Sheriff Cory Aukes announced he was retiring earlier this year to pursue a seat on the Hubbard County Board of Commissioners.

Aukes was successful in his campaign, beating out Donn Hoffman for a seat on the County Board. Aukes will begin serving Hubbard County District 3 in January. The district includes the western side of Park Rapids.

In Hubbard County District 1, incumbent Commissioner David De La Hunt was successful in his reelection bid against Andrew McFarlane. This district includes the city of Nevis.

A contested race for Hubbard County Soil and Water Conservation District 5, in the Nevis area, favored Mark Johnson over Carol Swaggert.

The current District 5 representative is Lynn Goodrich, who did not run for reelection.

The winners will all begin their four-year terms in January.
