The Detroit Lakes boys and girls teams won the Class 2A state golf tournaments. The Walker-Hackensack Akeley boys won the 1A title, and Pequot Lakes' Genevieve Birkeland is the girls 2A champ.

Nine Northern Minnesota teams advanced in total, plus another 40+ individuals from 26 Northland schools. The state golf tournament begins Tuesday.

Events this week include a thought-provoking play in Brainerd, a pancake breakfast at Lake Bemidji State Park and Anton Treuer speaking at Walker Hackensack Akeley High School.

The region will be well represented in the Class A meet, with 69 entries; Northern Minnesota has five entries in the 2A meet.

Events this week include an open mic and artist reception in Bemidji, a foraging class in Gonvick and Hwy. 53 and Hwy. 371 construction meetings in Virginia and Hackensack.

The undefeated Crosby-Ironton Rangers met their match in No. 1-ranked and also undefeated Providence Academy in the championship game on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Walker canceled school amid concerns of short staffing. Rock Ridge's local Peewee A and Bantam A hockey teams also advanced to their state tournaments.

Six rural Northern Minnesota teams advanced to the 2025 girls basketball state tournament, which begins Wednesday, March 12, 2025, on the University of Minnesota campus.
