Seventy more stops, expanded hours and more vehicles in the fleet makes the free AV service available to more MN communities, including those on Leech Lake Reservation.

MnDOT said motorists can expect flagging operations, lane closures and pilot cars during daylight working hours. There may be extended delays, especially during commute times.

Two projects broke ground in mid-August 2025, with another underway and at least four more in the works.

This project will resurface the highway, improve drainage, replace sidewalks, and improve pedestrian crossings, with all work expected to be completed by this fall.

MnDOT is studying the busy stretches of highway in the heart of town to increase safety and pedestrian usage.

From Blackduck, Hibbing, Brainerd, Chisholm, Marble, Virginia and Bemidji, small towns across Northern Minnesota are chock-full of events.
