Launch North from the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging will host events in Duluth, Grand Rapids, International Falls and Cloquet, where health care careers will be the topic.

Over 100 student-athletes from rural Northern Minnesota will wrestle at the 2026 state tournament in St. Paul, with a strong representation from the north-central region.

The Ely boys and Cook County girls will also compete Feb. 11-12, 2026, at Giants Ridge, along with individual qualifiers from Bemidji, Ely, Proctor-Hermantown, Grand Rapids, Two Harbors and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton.

Student-athletes competing for Cook County, Brainerd, Proctor-Hermantown, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton and Detroit Lakes will race in the state alpine meet in Biwabik on Feb. 10, 2026.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation recently announced $76.2 million in grants to support projects that improve freight options, travel time and economic development.

Twelve Northern Minnesota teams will race in the Twin Cities on Nov. 1, 2025, plus 37 individual qualifiers from across the Northland.

Plus: The Minnesota Department of Agriculture announced it has $11 million to expand its innovative irrigation program; MnDOT staff will host an open house in Cloquet ahead of a planned 2028 project Thursday, Oct. 2; and Kootasca Community Action is gathering gently used costumes for Grand Rapids and I-Falls trick-or-treaters.

The state plans to reconstruct Highway 33 in Cloquet in 2028, replacing two traffic signals and improving sidewalks and trails for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Minnesota DNR accepted the parcel from the Trust for Public Land, which used state grants to buy the land from adjacent private property owners.

The meetings in Coleraine, Floodwood, Hermantown and Cloquet will allow members of the public to comment and ask questions about the proposed route of the 63-mile line.
