Events Up North Sept. 18-21: Star parties, Revive Virginia Food Truck Festival

Events this week include Flapjack Festival in Brainerd, 'Annie' in Pequot Lakes, Open Mic Night in Park Rapids, Starapalooza at Long Lake Conservation Center and the Fall Bazaar in Buhl.

It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:

Thursday, Sept. 18

  • Open garden time - 1 to 4 p.m. at Happy Dancing Turtle in Pine River
  • Statewide Star Party - 3:30 p.m. at North Star Elementary in Virginia
  • Open Mic Night - Doors open at 6 p.m., performances at 7 p.m. at the Armory Arts & Event Center in Park Rapids
  • Poetry Slam - 6 p.m. at Fozzie's Bar-B-Q in Bemidji, hosted by the Watermark Art Center
  • Statewide Star Party - 7 p.m. at Blackwater Environmental Area in Cohasset
  • Annie - 7 p.m. at Pequot Lakes High School Auditorium

  • Loon Country Quilters show - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids
  • Learning to Love Your Monster story time and craft - 10 a.m. at Children's Discovery Museum in Grand Rapids
  • 5th annual Flapjack Festival and Touch a Truck - 10 a.m. to noon on Laurel Street in downtown Brainerd
  • Carnivorous Plant Puppets - 10 a.m. to noon at Lake Bemidji State Park. Meet at the Bog Boardwalk.
  • Fall Bazaar - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buhl-Kinney Senior Center in Buhl
  • Revive Virginia Food Truck Festival - 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Virginia
  • Starapalooza - 5 to 11 p.m. at Long Lake Conservation Center near Palisade
  • Iron Range Barn Dance - 6 p.m. at Kaleva Hall in Virginia. Dance to live acoustic music from Leatherwood. All dances will be taught. All ages welcome.
  • Bemidji Contra Dance - 6:30 p.m. at Rail River Folk School in Bemidji. Dance to live acoustic music from the O'Neil Family Band. All dances will be taught. All ages welcome.
  • Annie - 7 p.m. at Pequot Lakes High School Auditorium
