Events Up North June 16-22: Loons and Lakes Festival, concert for conservation

It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:

Monday, June 16

• Summer Brown Bag author series - noon at the Brainerd Public Library. Minnesota author Anna Farro Henderson will discuss her book Core Samples: A Climate Scientist's Experiments in Politics and Motherhood.

Tuesday, June 17

• Tuesday Summer Concert Series - noon at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cohasset, featuring "Bells and More: A Musical Potpourri." Optional lunch follows at 12:45 p.m.
• Multi-Agency Resource Center for those recovering from wildfires in St. Louis county - 3 to 7 p.m. at Hoyt Lakes Arena
• Loon Country Quilters meeting - 6 p.m. at Grand Village activity room in Grand Rapids

Wednesday, June 18

Thursday, June 19

• Juneteenth Freedom Walk - 10 a.m. at Old Central School in Grand Rapids. Walk 2.5 miles around Crystal Lake. A catered picnic lunch follows back at the school.
• Iron Range Juneteenth Celebration - 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm. Includes live music, games and a free meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, June 20

• Loons & Lakes Festival - events throughout the day at various locations in and near Crosslake

Saturday, June 21

• Loons & Lakes Festival - events throughout the day at various locations in and near Crosslake
• Loop the Lake Festival - 7:30 to 10 a.m. rolling start from South Shore Beach in Bemidji
• Spring Bike Fling - 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. ride to Hackensack beginning at Walker City Park
• Land of the Loon Arts & Crafts Festival - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Olcott Park in Virginia
• Summer Muse Festival - 4 to 8 p.m. at Rail River Folk School in Bemidji
• Nature Rocks Concert for Conservation - 5 to 10 p.m. on Minnesota Avenue in Aitkin

Sunday, June 22

• United Way of Bemidji Kids' Fishing Tournament - 8 a.m. to noon, with awards ceremony at 1 p.m. at Cameron Park
• Land of the Loon Arts & Crafts Festival - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Olcott Park in Virginia
• Itasca Pride Fest - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the grounds of Old Central School in Grand Rapids. A community meal follows at 6 p.m., with an interfaith service at 7 p.m., both at Community Presbyterian Church.
