“Tuba Odyssey – The Journey of InnerTuba” is Friday September 15 at 7:30 p.m. featuring Jon Hodkin, a Scottish man who has been traveling by tricycle with his tuba trailer from the Mississippi Delta to the source of the Mississippi River.The Bemidji Area Community Band, BSU Symphonic Band and BSU Wind Ensemble will perform under the direction of Nick White.

Participants will take photos of items listed on the bingo card and submit them either online or via email to the Pine River-based nonprofit.

Artists design skateboard decks to raise funds for Brainerd skate park
The auction is online starting 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, and ending 5 p.m. July 30. Proceeds for the auction will be split between Crossing Arts Kids for Creativity Kits and Lakes Area Skatepark Association to help fund a skate park in Brainerd.

In April, a health and human services employee’s email account began sending unauthorized spam emails. On April 28, 2023, Itasca HHS determined there was intermittent unauthorized access to the employee’s email account between April 7-11.

The U.S. Forest Service announced a rollback of its fire restrictions effective 12:01 a.m. Monday, July 3.
UPM Blandin, Teamsters to resume union contract negotiations Tuesday
A total of 166 members of Teamsters Local No. 346 are on strike, accounting for 80% of the plant’s workforce, as operations remain shut down. Groups of workers continue to picket in several locations in Grand Rapids near UPM Blandin.
Air quality alerts in NW Minn. affecting Bemidji, tribal nations of Red Lake and Leech Lake
An air quality alert has been issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency due to smoke from wildfires in Quebec that cycled around a low-pressure system near Hudson Bay, looping back into northwestern Minnesota.
