Pasque flowers are some of the first wildflowers to emerge in the springtime in Minnesota.

Kerns’ talk at the Forest History Center will explain why native plants are the unsung heroes of ecosystems.

GRAND RAPIDS — Ecologist Courtney Kerns will present Native Plants: A Whole World at your Doorstep 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 11.

Kerns’ talk at the Forest History Center will explain why native plants are the unsung heroes of ecosystems.

“We’ll begin almost literally at our doorsteps, meeting both common and rare native plants of northern Minnesota, then highlight some truly stunning plants that inhabit other parts of our country and world,” according to the website. “We’ll also talk about what you can do to conserve native plants in your home landscape and our local area.”

Cost is the regular site admission, which is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, veterans, active military members, college students and children ages 5-17. Children ages 4 and younger are free, as our members of the Minnesota Historical Society.
