CLOQUET — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an open house for its planned project on Highway 33 in Cloquet.
MnDOT staff will be on hand to answer questions 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Cloquet Armory-Minnesota National Guard, 801 Highway 33 S.
MnDOT began its study in 2024, and is slated to finalize its designs in 2027 for construction in 2028.
"Based on a traffic and safety analysis, as well as public input, the decision was made to replace the traffic signals at Carlton Avenue and Cloquet Avenue," stated the project's webpage.
Other planned corridor improvements include bike and pedestrian facilities, space for a future motorized trail, and new drainage and lighting infrastructure.
The project is estimated to cost $9 million, and construction impacts include lane closures and local detours.
