BENA — The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission will host three public hearings on Minnesota Power's proposed Boswell solar project on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 10-11.
The utility has applied for a site and route permit for its 85-megawatt project and the associated 2.45-mile transmission line. The solar project will span parts of Cohasset, the Leech Land Band of Ojibwe reservation and Deer Lake Township.
The public hearings will be presided over by an administrative law judge. The goal is to gather public input as the PUC considers a final decision on the permit.
Attendees will be able to ask questions of state staff and Minnesota Power, comment on the merits of the project and environmental assessment and suggest possible conditions for the permits.
The first meeting in Bena will be at the Bena Community Center at noon Wednesday. The second will be later that day at 6 p.m. at the Cohasset Community Center.
An online public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Additional information about the project is available on the PUC's website.
Written comment on the proposed project can also be submitted until 4:30 p.m. Sept. 25, online, by email or by mailing them to the Consumer Affairs Office, Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, 121 7th Place East, Suite 350, St. Paul, MN 55101.
