INTERNATIONAL FALLS — The city of International Falls will host an open house at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, to discuss the future of Smokey Bear Park after a fire destroyed its bandshell.
The historic bandshell burned in April 2024. The city is accepting answers to a questionnaire exploring potential plans: recreating the bandshell, building a new multi-use structure or leaving the area as a greenspace.
The city said the open house and questionnaire "is your chance to share your vision and help shape the next chapter for this beloved community space."
The open house will be hosted in the City Council Chambers. The questionnaire is open until Sept. 2.
Plus: Demolition work is underway to make room for new construction in Bemidji's blighted rail corridor; Anderson Brothers Construction in Brainerd can once again bid on government contracts; and Essentia Health St. Joseph's will host its annual Tree of Life memorial service on Dec. 16.
