ISABELLA — Cross-country skiers will have access to the Flathorn Gegoka trail system near Isabella this season thanks to a new trailhead.
The new trailhead was built by the Superior National Forest and Friends of the Flathorn Gegoka Trail.
Four ski trail bridges were damaged in the June 2024 floods, preventing access to the trail system from the Flathorn Lake trailhead.
The new trailhead on Jensen Trail just north of Highway 1 was already in development before the floods to provide quicker access to the trail system, but the Forest Service said timing could not have been better.
Friends of the Flathorn Gegoka are hosting a ribbon-cutting at the new trailhead at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 18.
