CARLTON — Carlton County is offering public walking tours of its new Justice Center on Thursday, Aug. 22, following its grand opening.
The $75 million Justice Center will house the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, a 96-bed jail, patrol and 911 operations, three courtrooms and court services, probation and the county attorney and public defender offices.
The project was funded by a sales tax referendum passed in 2022 and state dollars.
The Justice Center is located roughly three miles west of downtown Carlton on a 28-acre lot, according to an open house flyer from the county. The building was planned with future growth in mind, considering future facility expansion needs and the potential for further development.
The grand opening is at noon Thursday. Tours will be offered every two hours from 2-8 p.m. Additional tours on Aug. 27 will be offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
