KAXE contacted every candidate twice using contact information submitted to the Secretary of State's Office to invite them to participate in our Election Guide.
Candidate responses have not been edited and are published as submitted.
As necessary, our news team added contextual information clearly marked with an "editor's note" and in italics, though responses have not been uniformly fact-checked. With our small team of three, we are unable to proactively fact check every statement made by candidates. But we will make every effort to make note of inaccuracies if they come to our attention.
Please contact our news team at news@kaxe.org with questions or comments or to report any errors.

Where are you currently employed, and what is your role?
Aspirus-St. Luke’s Hospital
Please share any prior experience that you believe qualifies you for office.
I’ve been a public school Social Studies teacher, Non-Profit Director, and a Social Worker for the State of Minnesota and Blue Earth County. I’ve also been a board member for a number of organizations and agencies. I am a current member of the Two Harbors Planning and Zoning board.
Please describe the roles and responsibilities of the office you are running for.
City Council
Why are you running for office?
I’ve been a member of the Two Harbors Zoning and Planning Commission, and with the opening of a Council seat in my ward, I felt it was the right time to seek the open seat.
What are your priorities, if elected? Please describe specific policy goals.
Senior and work-force housing. Increasing the Commercial/Industrial tax base to take pressure off residential property taxes.
Across the region, renters and owners are struggling to afford housing. If elected, what would you do to address the issues of availability and affordability for your constituents?
Two Harbors, like many communities across the state, has struggled with a lack of quality rental housing, and affordable housing for young families. As a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, we’ve capped short-term rentals, and adjusted zoning to start to address this issue. I look forward to doing more as a Council member to attack this persistent problem.
What effective policies will you support that will prepare your city now, next year and in the future to improve resiliency against climate change?
Our region is fortunate to be considered a Climate change haven.” But more volatility in temperatures and precipitation will present challenges that we may need to respond to. I am open to listening to experts in these area to prepare for any changes we may need to make to prepare for these challenges.
High taxation is a concern for many Northern Minnesotans. Please share any specific opinions you hold related to taxation, and how you plan to ensure tax dollars are used efficiently and effectively.
Maintaining vigilance! Again, I will stress that the key to keeping residential property taxes under control is supporting and growing our commercial/industrial sector.
How do you plan to improve transparency and trust in government?
I have knocked on every door in my district, and am in the midst of doing so a second time. Listening to and developing a personal relationship with those you hope to represent is the cornerstone of gaining their trust.
