Forests and Carbon: Stephen Handler, Climate Change Specialist from Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science

Tuesday mornings we bring you nature and a connection to place and to bigger issues like Climate Change.

Mark Jacobs, retired Aitkin County Land Commissioner is our producer for our latest series on Forests and Carbon and Climate Change. You can catch up on our bird decline serieswith Mark here.

In these segments we strive to take an in-depth look at some natural resource-based issues important to our region… we’ll not only discuss the problems, but also attempt to highlight some creative solutions.

Forests and Carbon is an issue that is receiving a lot of attention in recent years. Last month Todd Ontl from the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science chatted about how forests sequester and store atmospheric carbon.

Today's Mark introduced us to Stephen Handler from the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Scienceto chat with us about potential changes in our forests due to a changing climate.
