Commissioner Phillips approves $250,000 grant for Fond du Lac water tower project

Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation Commissioner Mark Phillips today approved a $250,000 grant to the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Funds will be used toward a new water tower to serve the communities of Mahnomen and Brookston. The first phase of the project is $1.3 million and includes the construction of the water tower. The total project cost for all phases of the water treatment system is $11.93 million.

The Chisholm Downtown Revitalization Project (CDRP) was created as a grassroots effort to enhance the vitality of the heart of Chisholm.  Jessalyn Sabin is a member of the CDRP committee and shared what the committee has been up to like the establishment of a "pocket park" and a historic walking town.

MN House of Representatives

Freshman Republican Representative Sandy Layman (Cohasset) from District 5B talked with us at the beginning of the session, and she checks back in to talk about this session having to do with changes in the IRRRB.  Rep. Layman was the IRRRB director  during Governor Tim Pawlenty's two terms in office.
