The Commission is tasked with recommending candidates for judicial vacancies. One is expected in the Ninth District upon the retirement of Judge Donna K. Dixon in Roseau.

The smoke is expected to remain over the northwest part of the state through the end of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, but by Thursday morning, the smoke will reach southwest Minnesota.

The DNR still welcomes and encourages people to walk and bike through the area, which is part of the Pine to Prairie Birding Trail and home to roughly 150 bird species.

Grants from the state to support inclusivity as people age were awarded to 11 projects benefiting Northern Minnesota, including programming for older adults.
