In the past, The Bridge on 7th closed in the summer months. The Brainerd City Council approved a one-year permit for year-round operations April 6, 2026.

The Bridge on 7th gained the unanimous recommendation of the Planning Commission for its permit. On April 6, 2026, that permit will go before the Brainerd City Council.

Village of Hope is teaming up with other housing shelters in the Bemidji area for the March to Support Shelter Care starting at noon March 14, 2026.

The Brainerd lakes area organization's mission is to end homelessness and lift people out of poverty. Its Creekside Community continues to expand. Donations are being accepted to help furnish new homes.

The new shelter is expected to open in summer 2026 and will double the current shelter's capacity, along with adding a classroom, children's play area and visitation space.

The Bridge offers guests who are 18 or older a place to sleep, personal necessities provided by donors and support from trained staff.

Range Transitional Housing celebrated the grand opening of the $2.2 million space. The building includes two adjoining houses, and each with both a three-bedroom and a two-bedroom apartment.

Events in Northern Minnesota this week include Indigenous Peoples' Day celebrations in Grand Rapids and Brainerd and the Haunted Trail at the Northland Arboretum.

Grace House of Itasca County is the county's only homeless shelter and has been open since 2006.

The timing of the Point in Time count is intended to capture a more precise picture of those unable to access emergency shelter in winter months.
