Essentia Health advanced practice providers ended their strike, but Essentia still refuses to bargain as it appeals the certification of the bargaining unit.

Over 400 nurse practitioners and physician assistants across 69 facilities from across Northern Minnesota began an open-ended unfair labor practice strike July 10, 2025.

Essentia Health said it will suspend services at its clinics in Deerwood, Emily and Hackensack if advanced practice providers strike Thursday, July 10, 2025.

After authorizing a strike last week, north-central and northeastern APPs with the Minnesota Nurses Association filed a 10-day strike notice Monday, June 30, 2025.

Essentia Health advanced practice practitioners in northeastern and north-central Minnesota voted to unionize last year. They say Essentia has refused to bargain.

Essentia Health bought the hospital on its Virginia campus from the city in 2022. The city will transfer ownership of the clinic after it pays off its bond obligations.

The longstanding event in Detroit Lakes is open to the public. The service is hosted in remembrance of babies lost through miscarriage or stillbirth and dedicated to the families.

The free car seat inspections will be at the Virginia Fire Department on April 17, 2025, from 4-6 p.m.

The health care provider said the upgrades will improve safety and efficiency. The announcement is another flashpoint in the Essentia-Fosston conflict.
