Emerald Ash Borer

The invasive insect was confirmed by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture in southern Aitkin County, Virginia and northern Pine County. All three areas are quarantined.

Emerald ash borer is now confirmed in Jackson County and a new portion of Lake County, with 53 of Minnesota's 87 counties having known infestations.

The director of Minnesota Invasive Terrestrial Plants and Pest Center has been working in Cass County to study the effects of this warmer winter on the emerald ash borer.

A Minnesota Department of Agriculture employee noticed a cluster of ash trees bearing signs of the invasive pest near Remer. State officials enacted an emergency quarantine of eastern Cass County.
