The Detroit Lakes boys and girls teams won the Class 2A state golf tournaments. The Walker-Hackensack Akeley boys won the 1A title, and Pequot Lakes' Genevieve Birkeland is the girls 2A champ.

Nine Northern Minnesota teams advanced in total, plus another 40+ individuals from 26 Northland schools. The state golf tournament begins Tuesday.

Wastewater and drinking water projects in Aitkin, Detroit Lakes, Eveleth, Crosby and Tower will protect public health and improve water quality.

The longstanding event in Detroit Lakes is open to the public. The service is hosted in remembrance of babies lost through miscarriage or stillbirth and dedicated to the families.

Detroit Lakes' Blake Swenson took home two medals, and Hibbing's Wylie Stenson is the region's other medalist at the 2025 state swim and dive meet.

The state boys Swim and Dive meet will have 50 Northland entries made up of 51 student-athletes from eight area schools.

The Lakers won the 2025 Class A gymnastics title, and four student-athletes brought home an additional nine medals in individual competition.

The Detroit Lakes gymnastics team and Bemidji's Aubrey DeWitt will represent the Northland at the 2025 MSHSL state gymnastics meet this weekend.

Nearly 40 student-athletes from rural schools across the Northland will race at next week's state meets at Giant's Ridge.
