Emily Bartnes, Kerry Claypool-Lambert, Gary L. Coson, Nerissa Hendrickson, Julie Smith-Yliniemi, John Steffl, Michael Walther, Susan Walther and Nancy Zehnacker are running for I.S.D. 22, Detroit Lakes, School Board. Jon Freeman and Sanford "Sandy" Nelson are running for a two-year seat on the Board.

Jim Joy and Thaddeus Laugisch are running to represent District 4B, which includes most of Clay County and part of Becker County, including Detroit Lakes.

Sponsored by the nonprofit Safe Routes to School, the annual, national day encourages students to walk or bike to school.

There is still plenty of time to take in Danish recycling artist Thomas Dambo's work in a troll journey around Detroit Lakes and nearby Frazee.
