Events Up North Aug. 11-17: Stargazing, Print Social, Itasca County Fair

Events this week include the Northern Pine Trio and a youth shoot in Grand Rapids, Mines and Pines Revisited in Hibbing, an open garden in Pine River and author talks in Hibbing and Bemidji.

It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:

Print Social - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hibbing Public Library. You'll get to design and print your very own one-of-a-kind letterpress poster, using real wood type and ink.
Bike Rodeo - 5 to 7 p.m. at the Itasca County Family YMCA in Grand Rapids. Kids can learn bike safety with activities including an obstacle course and helmet fitting. A free meal is provided.

Tuesday Summer Concert Series - noon at United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids with Northern Pine Trio
Safeguard for School immunization event - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Sanford Health in Bemidji
Food waste reduction class - 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Hunt Utilities Group Resilient Living Campus in Pine River
Dark Sky Night - 8 to 10 p.m. at Split Rock Lighthouse, north of Two Harbors

Open garden time - 1 to 4 p.m. at Happy Dancing Turtle in Pine River
Author talk with Darrell J. Pedersen - 1 p.m. at Hull Rust Mineview in Hibbing (Building 2)

Itasca County Fair in Grand Rapids
Youth shoot - 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Itasca Gun Club near Grand Rapids. Youth ages 10-18 may learn to shoot in a controlled environment.
Mines and Pines Revisited - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bennett Park in Hibbing
Kalevala Puppet Pageant - noon at Finn Creek Open Air Museum near New York Mills
Northland Mutual UFO Network monthly meeting - 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Grand Rapids VFW and on Zoom.
Q&A with local author and artist Tashia Hart - 2 p.m. at Bemidji Public Library
Third Coast Chamber Collective presents "It Takes Five" - 7 p.m. at the Edge Center for the Arts in Bigfork
Guided by the Stars - 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Lake Bemidji State Park visitor center. After an indoor presentation, head outside for a hands-on stargazing experience. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Bring your own bug spray.
