BEMIDJI — With spring weather comes more outdoor activities. In celebration of Earth Day, Bemidji State University presents their second annual Earth Day Disc Golf Tournament.
The BSU Students for the Environment are assisting with the tournament at Bemidji City Park’s disc golf course. It begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with a recreational and competitive division doing a staggering start where everyone starts at the same time but at different holes.
The competitive division will consist of 25 participants who are more experienced in disc golf while the recreational will be 10 participants who want to try out disc golf or play just for fun. The recreational players will be partnered up with the competitive ones to hopefully learn some tips about the game.
Prior to the tournament, the Bemidji Disc Golf Club will be hosting a cleanup for the course. BSU’s Sustainability Project Manager Jordan Lutz told the KAXE Morning Show it’s a way to encourage folks to get outdoors and have some physical activity.
Prizes for the event include a frolf backpack with several discs donated by Book N More and many other items donated by the Students for the Environment.
People can register for either division at the Bemidji Parks and Recreation website. BSU, NTC, and students from ISD 31 can participate at no cost. The deadline is noon on Friday, April 25.
