KAXE has been people-powered radio since 1976. Our Question of the Week is wondering, "What energizes you?"

This week, it's our Spring Membership Drive and our theme is "People-Powered Radio." Thanks to everyone who has donated so far!

What gives you energy?

Here's what we heard

Todd wrote, "Up North and a lovely freshwater lake."

KAXE volunteer Dawn Espe said, "When people can find joy with each other and appreciate the individual humanity of all of us."

Deb commented, "Playing music with other people. Music jams are the best."

Music was a common thread. Volunteer Curt Randa said, "Any music within the heartbeat range. A good hip-hop song in the middle of a sea of slow folk music gives me a burst of mental 'colors.' Bright music!"

KAXE producer Andrew Dziengel said concerts energize him.

Vicky from Grand Rapids said, "Waking up in the morning and having a soft heart to help others."

"Being able to be active outdoors," Mike from Park Rapids said.

Nature was another thing mentioned a few times. KAXE Development Director Chris Walker said, "I think what energizes and really refreshes me most is when I discover something new in nature. It inspires me and motivates me to do it more. Last fall, I went to Fort Snelling State Park in the cities and I was taken aback by how cool and serene of a spot it was right in the middle of the Twin Cities.

"I had been to Fort Snelling growing up, but never the trails or convergence of the Minnesota & Mississippi Rivers and it made me want to continue to discover treasures like that all throughout our state."

Nadia simply said, "Sunshine!"
