Our "What's For Breakfast" guest Seren was planning to enjoy a bowl of Lucky Charms at school.

Every Friday morning, we get to know one of our members on "What's for Breakfast." Recently, we spoke with Seren, an eighth grader from Pine River.

PINE RIVER — Elaborate breakfasts are nice, but sometimes, a humble bowl of cereal is all you need.

Our guest for "What's For Breakfast" this week was Seren, a Pequot Lakes eighth grader calling in before heading to school. Seren didn't have breakfast yet, but he had a plan. "I'm gonna have a bowl of lucky charms, and some apple juice, because that's what my school gives".

Seren often gets breakfast at school. He described some of the options the school offers, including various cereals, banana bread, Pop-Tarts and so on. But Seren is loyal to Lucky Charms, getting them almost every day except for weekends.

Seren told us about his activities, including speech. He specializes in original oratory speeches, which are a type of speech that aims to convince and inspire the audience to make a change in their lives. The speech Seren is working on right now is about gardening, and why more people should get into it.

"I think the main part that would convince people to grow a garden would be like, mainly that it's just easy and it really helps out with your own health and the environment and stuff."

Seren also participates in track in the spring. His favorite events are the long jump as well as the shorter running events, though he enjoys the longer events too.

Finally, Seren briefly told us about his sister Synneva, but he had to leave, since he was just about to arrive at school.

We love hearing about breakfasts. Send us photos or join us on "What's for Breakfast?" Friday mornings at 7:50 a.m.
