It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:
Tuesday, Feb. 11
- Cary J. Griffith book tour - 3:30 p.m. at the Coleraine Public Library. Griffith will discuss his book Gunflint Falling: Blowdown in the Boundary Waters.
- Nuance: A Chamber Ensemble Concert - 7 p.m. in the Dryden Theater at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, featuring intimate performances by the woodwind, percussion and brass ensembles.
Wednesday, Feb. 12
- Cary J. Griffith book tour - 1 p.m. at the Calumet Public Library, 6 p.m. at the Marble Public Library. Griffith will discuss his book Gunflint Falling: Blowdown in the Boundary Waters.
- Verse Like Water - noon in the Chalberg Theater at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. Pulitzer Prize winner Gregory Pardlo will read from his poetry collection and sign books. An informal craft talk follows at 1:30 p.m.
- BRRRmidji Days Medallion Hunt begins - More details.
Thursday, Feb. 13
- Sweetheart Jam - 1 p.m. at Bemidji Senior Center. Refreshments will be served.
- What's Love Got to Do with It? Understanding and Overcoming Partner Violence - 6 p.m. at the Beltrami County History Center in Bemidji. The evening will include three speakers with experience in advocating for survivors and providing community support. Whether you have been directly affected by partner violence, or just want to help create a safer community, this program offers a compassionate space for dialogue.
- Classic Movie Series - 6:30 p.m. at the Edge Center for the Arts in Bigfork. This month's film is Love Crazy, starring William Powell and Myrna Loy.
Friday, Feb. 14
- March to honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives - 11 a.m., beginning at Northwest Indian Community Development Center and going to the Beaux Arts Ballroom on the Bemidji State University campus. Program from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Fate of Minnesota’s Forest Birds: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - noon at the Lois King Education Center at the Friends of Sax-Zim Bog Welcome Center near Meadowlands. Gerald Niemi will present on the future of some of Minnesota's nesting bird species.
- As She Likes It, presented by Stages of the Range Players - 5 p.m. at Uptown Shopping Center in Virginia (former Payless Shoes space). It's an anthology of short plays featuring Shakespeare's female characters.
- Misery - 7 p.m. at Bemidji Community Theater. Tickets.
Saturday, Feb. 15
- BRRRmidji Plunge - 1 p.m. on Lake Bemidji. BRRRmidji Days activities and events begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and continue until Saturday, Feb. 22.
- Walk on the Wild Side: Birding Basics & The Great Backyard Bird Count - 1 p.m. at Neilson Spearhead Center near Bemidji.
- Winter Lecture Series: After the Burn - 1 p.m. at the Forest History Center in Grand Rapids
- As She Likes It, presented by Stages of the Range Players - 2 p.m. at Uptown Shopping Center in Virginia (former Payless Shoes space). It's an anthology of short plays featuring Shakespeare's female characters.
- Opening reception for Robert DesJarlait's exhibit "Inaaband Mitigwaki (Woodland Vision)" - 5 to 7 p.m. at Watermark Art Center in Bemidji
- Misery - 7 p.m. at Bemidji Community Theater. Tickets.
Sunday, Feb. 16
