We're rounding up events going on now through New Year's Day.

It's the last few weeks of the year! Here are some events to check out.

Monday, Dec. 16-Monday, Dec. 23

  • Jolabokaflod at the Park Rapids Area Library. Celebrate the Icelandic tradition of a "Christmas book flood." Check out any items and get a chocolate and a festively wrapped, gently used book.

  • Santa reads 'Twas the Night Before Christmas - 5:30 p.m. at the Brainerd Public Library

Thursday, Dec. 19

  • Watermark Art Center hosts a Story Slam - 6 p.m. music, 7 p.m. storytelling at Bemidji Brewing. The theme is "Snow Day!"

Friday, Dec. 20

  • Christmas Market - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mountain Iron Public Library
  • "The Day Before Winter" - 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Sax-Zim Bog. Naturalist Dave Benson will talk about ways animals prepare themselves for the extremes of winter.

  • History Mystery: Murder at the Carson Christmas Party - 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Beltrami County History Center. $15/adult, $10/BCHS members, $5/youths, 12 and under. Tickets

  • First Day Snowshoe Under the Pines - 10 a.m. at Lake Bemidji State Park. Meet at the trailhead of the Paul Bunyan State Trail. Bring your own snowshoes, or a limited number are available to borrow. Refreshments served in the visitor center. All skill levels are welcome.
