KAXE reporter Larissa Donovan spends most winters "poking her fingertips" while embroidering and cross-stitching.

With our days being shorter, this week we're wondering about what keeps you busy indoors during the colder months. Or, is there something you'd like to learn this winter?

This week, we are wondering about what keeps you busy indoors.

Perhaps there's an artistic hobby you take up, or a game you like to play. Is there something you'd like to learn this winter?

KAXE's Member Services Coordinator Heather Johnson likes to do the art of chip carving in her spare time.

Here's what we heard

Rhonda from Pequot Lakes texted, "Making soup! Nice and thick comfort stews."

Richard from Grand Rapids wrote a lovely description of his hobby. He said, "My favorite indoor activity, as the seasons edge their way, from glorious mid-autumn to resolute, end of duck season, with skies, the color of old nickels is to inspect/analyze various photos that I had captured, both on my smart phone and on my pocket 35mm digital camera. Then, with the aid of mechanical drawing pencils, I'll explore possible art compositions. At this stage of existence, the possibilities are endless! Of course, listening to KAXE, is a great adjunct!"

Our staff members are pretty crafty as well. Reporter Larissa Donovan said, "I spend most winters poking my fingertips with embroidery/cross stitch needles."

Member Services Coordinator Heather Johnson told us, "I enjoy doing lots of crafty/building things, especially around Christmas. This year, I've had an urge to get back into chip carving (a kind of decorative carving), which I put down a few years ago. It's quiet, portable, and somewhat relaxing, which goes well with catching up on my huge list of albums to listen to (or trashy reality TV, I'm not going to lie)."

We heard from many of you on Facebook, as well. William said comic books keep him busy. "Buying, reading, collecting," he explained.

Michael said, "Buying, selling, and listening to vinyl records." Eric replied to say, "I was going to say this, but mine would be sorting through them with hopes of selling them and then never actually selling any. I guess it's archiving."

Bill likes watercolor painting, and Kenneth said, "My favorite indoor hobby is staying out of the snow!"
